The Hon Pat Conroy, Minister for International Development & the Pacific views the causeway (narrowest point in Funafuti) accompanied by Minister for Justice, Communications and Foreign Affairs, the Hon Panapasi Nelesone in Tuvalu on August 30, 2023.

Minister Conroy travelled to Tuvalu to hear first-hand from the Government about its priorities and to continue to deepen our close partnership. He met with Prime Minister Kausea Natano and members of his Cabinet to discuss how the countries can work together to strengthen Tuvalu’s economic and environmental resilience. The visit is a key opportunity to advance our shared interests in a strong and united Pacific Islands Forum. Tuvalu is a global leader in climate action. During the visit, Minister Conroy reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to ambitious climate action. He also visited the Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project to see the critical work Australia is supporting to protect the lives, livelihoods and culture of Tuvaluans in the face of climate change.
