Senator the Hon Don Farrell, Minister for Trade and Tourism, and The Hon Anthony Albanese MP, Prime Minister, visit Shanghai for the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE).

First announced by President Xi Jinping at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in 2017, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) began in 2018. The world’s first ‘import-themed’ national level expo is seen as an opportunity for government officials, business communities, exhibitors, and professional purchasers from across the world to explore and demonstrate new and existing opportunities for business with China, and strengthen cooperation of the world economy. The 6th CIIE was held in Shanghai from November 5-10, 2023.

The 6th CIIE was opened by Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Sunday November 5. Sixty-nine countries participated in the 6 day expo. More than 250 Australian businesses exhibited at the 2023 CIIE, showcasing a range of different products from minerals to small goods, many of which have been impacted by trade restrictions with China.
