Defence has deployed Royal Australian Air Force aircraft to help transport humanitarian relief supplies to affected communities displaced by the landslide in Enga Province, Papua New Guinea, on 24 May 2024. Defence’s contribution is part of the Australian Government’s assistance to Papua New Guinea, led by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Australia’s aid consists of an initial $2.5 million humanitarian assistance package, including emergency relief supplies such as shelter, hygiene kits and specific support for women and children to meet the immediate needs of local communities.
